Counter Offensive

Looks like the TSCC is about to launch a counter offensive to sites like postmormon. A news article in Deseret News states, "Mormon Times.com will feature news and information from around the LDS Church, with online contributors who will make it lively and entertaining. But we are also going to rely on our readers to add to the site with their own experiences, wisdom and knowledge through several interactive features."

Read more about it in this Deseret News article.

I'm a bit surprised by the name of the website. I thought the church wanted to remove themselves from being called the derogatory term MORMON? I guess the powers that be have decided there's no fighting against something that can't be won. This will be the perfect venue for TBM's to express themselves as Russel Ballard recently encouraged members to get involved in the blogging community.

I like the comment from Leon who said,

"Are you then going to have Muslin Times.com, Evangelical Christian Time.com, Jewish Times.com, Buddha Times.com, Islam Times.com? Do you really want to widen the gap between those of the LDS faith and those who already think we are too cliquish? This just might be the ammo they need. "

This guy's post really killed me! You can just taste the sacrcasm.

"Wow! A real honest-to-dickens retro title, milque-toast breakfast recipes including a luke-warm non-caffeinated cup of Postum, a tiny CTR ring for all the kids, and some good old-fashioned 1950's family home evening discussions around the fireside. You've certainly outdone yourselves this time -- I see a pulsating rainbow-colored ePulizer in the future for the DMN!"

I wonder how the site will deal with outside, er...Gentile comments and contributions.
